In recent years, Colorado has proven a tough customer for large new music festivals, but there is little indication thatVertex was anything but a success — even if the its numbers don’t necessarily suggest that.
The mega-music fests in Aspen and Vail have never been competitors in their own minds, though classical consumers have always considered them rivals when it comes to choosing which concerts to see during the short summer season.

When the Colorado Symphony Orchestra first started teaming with the art rock band DeVotchKa it was a cutting-edge move in both the pop and classical fields. Now — five performances in — its become a summer tradition and one of Denver’s favorite Red Rock events. It returns Thursday, June 16.
